Florida Foreclosure Programs
Governor Scott signed into law today a program allocating $200 million dollars to foreclosure assistance programs, mortgage counseling groups, legal aid and Habitat for Humanity Programs. The money comes from the some $8.6 billion that Florida will receive from the Foreclosure Fraud Settlement with the nation’s five largest lending banks. Critics of the allocation say that more money should have gone straight to distressed property owners who were wrongfully foreclosed. On the other hand, some Florida Legislatures felt the money should go into general funds for the State.
